The Royal Navy dispatched their largest convoy and most fearless captain to keep their precious cargo — a shipment of Alfred’s dark rum — safe from ruthless pirates. Or so the story goes. Alfred Lamb was known for producing the rum of choice for the British Navy. The hexagon shape of the bottle ensured his smooth and refined rum wouldn’t roll around on ships.
